The crucial FIFA Club World Cup Group C clash between Boca Juniors and Auckland City was temporarily suspended due to severe weather conditions near Geodis Park in Nashville. A powerful electrical storm in the area forced officials to halt the match, leaving both teams and fans in suspense as qualification stakes remain high.

Prior to the interruption, Boca Juniors held a precarious position in the group and were fighting to keep their hopes alive. The Argentine side took the lead in the 36th minute after an unfortunate own goal by Auckland goalkeeper Nathan Garrow, who inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net.

But the celebration was short-lived. Jerson Lagos of Auckland City struck back with an equalizer, putting Boca under pressure once again. With the score tied 1–1 and other group results not favoring them, Boca’s chances of advancing are hanging by a thread.

Despite creating numerous opportunities, Boca’s persistent struggles in front of goal continued to cost them, frustrating coach Martínez on the sidelines. The weather delay now adds to the drama, as the team anxiously awaits the resumption of play to determine their fate.

More updates to follow once play resumes at Geodis Park.
