Spain took an early lead with goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Merino, establishing a 2–0 advantage by halftime. The momentum continued in the second half as Lamine Yamal converted a penalty, followed by a goal from Pedri, and another from Yamal, bringing the score to 5–1 by the 67th minute.
France mounted a spirited comeback with Kylian Mbappé scoring from the penalty spot, debutant Rayan Cherki netting a stunning goal, and an own goal by Dani Vivian narrowing the gap to 5–3. Randal Kolo Muani added a late header, but Spain managed to hold on for the win.
