Renowned Tanzanian fashion designer Sheria Ngowi has officially announced his departure from his role as the kit designer for Young Africans SC (Yanga), a position he held for four consecutive seasons from 2021 to 2025.
Ngowi made the announcement via an emotional statement shared on his official Instagram account, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders who supported him throughout his journey with the club.
WITH GREAT HUMILITY AND A HEART FULL OF GRATITUDE, I begin by thanking Almighty God for His grace, wisdom, and guidance throughout this unique journey as the Lead Designer of Yanga SC jerseys,” he wrote.
In his message, Ngowi highlighted the honor and pride he felt in contributing to the identity and heritage of one of Africa’s most historic football clubs through design. He thanked GSM and its leadership for their trust and investment in his vision, Yanga SC management and technical staff for their collaboration and professionalism, and fans – both local and international – for their unwavering support and appreciation of his work.
Reflecting on the past four seasons, Ngowi celebrated several milestones including:
The historic titles won by the club during his tenure, which showcased Yanga’s dominance both domestically and across Africa.
Jerseys that gained continental and global recognition, worn with pride by fans and showcased on international platforms.
Representing Tanzania’s culture on a global stage through innovative, modern designs.
He also acknowledged the support of his family for being a source of strength and resilience during his creative journey.
As of the 2025/2026 season, I will no longer be the official jersey designer for Yanga SC. I leave with a heart full of pride, gratitude, and fulfillment, knowing that we created something of unique and lasting value,” he concluded.
Sheria Ngowi’s departure marks the end of a creative era at Yanga SC, where his designs became an iconic part of the club’s modern identity.
