Rapper Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being found guilty of a $1 million fraud scheme. Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were convicted in March of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Turner was sentenced last month to five years in prison.
Authorities said Kingston used his fame to obtain luxury items, including a bulletproof Escalade, high end watches, and a 19-foot LED TV, sending sellers fake payment receipts. Kingston, known for his 2007 hit Beautiful Girls, was arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT raid on his Florida mansion.
U.S. Judge David Leibowitz ordered Kingston to begin his sentence immediately, rejecting his lawyer’s request to self-surrender later due to health concerns. Prosecutors described Kingston as someone addicted to a celebrity lifestyle he could no longer afford, while his attorney argued he had little understanding of finances at the peak of his teenage stardom.
