CHICAGO (WGN) – Legendary pop icon Connie Francis, known for classic hits like “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” and the viral sensation “Pretty Little Baby,” has passed away at the age of 87.

The news was confirmed in a heartfelt Facebook post early Thursday morning by her copyright manager, Ron Roberts. The message was later shared on Francis’ official artist page.

“It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night. I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news,” Roberts wrote.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1937, Connie Francis rose to stardom in the 1950s and early 1960s, selling millions of records globally and becoming one of the most beloved pop vocalists of her era.

In recent years, she experienced a resurgence in popularity after her 1962 song “Pretty Little Baby” went viral on TikTok, prompting her to join the platform and express gratitude to celebrities and fans for embracing her music.

While the exact cause of death has not been revealed, the singer had shared several Facebook updates earlier this month about being in “extreme pain.” On July 2, she revealed she had been hospitalized and later moved to a private room in intensive care for testing and treatment.

Her final public update came on July 4, when she noted she was feeling “much better.”

Francis leaves behind a rich musical legacy that continues to inspire new generations of listeners around the world.
