Tanzanian music star Phina is set to make a strong international statement with her feature on the upcoming remix of “Too Late”, originally by Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay. The remix, which is scheduled for release this Friday, also features Nigerian Guchi and Bedjine from France, creating a dynamic collaboration across three major African music scenes: Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria and France.

According to Phina, what drew her to the project was the powerful message behind the song. “It’s about relationships where someone treats you like you’ll never leave,” she shared. “But when you finally walk away and find someone better, the one who once took you for granted tries to come back. But by then—it’s too late.”

The bond between Phina and Wendy Shay was born from a previous collaboration on Kenyan artist Nadia Mukami’s 2024 track, “Bye Bye”, which featured both women. That experience laid the foundation for their growing friendship and creative chemistry, ultimately leading to this new partnership.

The “Too Late” remix blends East and West African sounds, with each artist bringing a unique flavor to the emotional track. While the original version by Wendy Shay resonated deeply with fans, the remix is expected to elevate the narrative even further with new voices and perspectives.

As the countdown begins for its official release, fans across the continent are eager to hear how Phina’s soulful vocals, combined with the Afrobeat influence of Gucci and Bedneji, will transform the track into a pan-African anthem of love, strength, and self-worth.

This marks yet another major step for Phina as she continues to expand her musical reach beyond Tanzanian borders.
