A rare and breathtaking atmospheric phenomenon known as a Solar Halo has been witnessed across various regions of Tanzania, sparking awe, curiosity, and even a little confusion among residents. The dazzling spectacle appeared asa large, glowing ring surrounding the Sun, shimmering with faint rainbow-like colors visible to the naked eye.

Experts describe the Solar Halo technically called a 22-degree haloas an optical event that occurs when sunlight passes through millions of tiny ice crystals found high in the upper atmosphere within cirrostratus clouds. These crystals act like miniature prisms, bending and refracting the sunlight at an angle of exactly 22 degrees, producing a perfect circular halo around the Sun.

According to meteorologists, the appearance ofa Solar Halo is often a sign of moisture or high humidity in the upper atmosphere and can indicate that rain or changing weather patterns are on the way. However, they emphasize that the phenomenon is completely natural and harmless it has no negative effects on humans, animals, or the environment.
