Bongo Fleva star Mbosso has turned a new chapter in his music journey by officially launching his own record label, Khan Music. This move marks a significant milestone in his career, transitioning from being under one of the biggest music labels in East Africa to becoming an independent music entrepreneur.
Born Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi, Mbosso has consistently shown growth and maturity in the music industry. His musical journey began several years ago as a member of the popular group Yamoto Band. After the group disbanded, Mbosso took a brief break before making a strong comeback under WCB Wasafi, a label owned by Tanzanian music icon Diamond Platnumz.
He was officially introduced as a WCB signee on January 29, 2018, during a high-profile event in Dar es Salaam. Just a day before his public unveiling, Mbosso released his debut single under the label titled “Watakubali”, which was met with widespread excitement from fans.
During his nearly seven-year tenure with WCB, Mbosso established himself as one of Tanzania’s leading contemporary artists. He released numerous hit tracks including “Hodari,” “Nadekezwa,” “Tamu,” and “Picha Yake.” In 2021, he launched his debut album Definition of Love, which received critical acclaim both locally and internationally.
However, in February 2025, Mbosso officially announced his departure from WCB Wasafi. Diamond Platnumz confirmed the news via social media, emphasizing that the exit was amicable and that the label wished Mbosso well in his new chapter.
That new chapter has now taken a bold and exciting direction—becoming the founder and CEO of his own label. Through Khan Music, Mbosso aims not only to continue his journey as an artist but also to discover and uplift new talent, contributing further to the growth of the East African music industry.
This move places Mbosso among the few artists who have successfully transitioned from major-label support to independent leadership, proving his resilience, vision, and influence in the music world.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting his next major project titled “RN3”, which will be the first to be released under Khan Music. There is also growing anticipation around the new talent set to rise under the label’s banner, as Mbosso embarks on this exciting new chapter of artistry and mentorship.
