Manchester United are on the brink of securing Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the 25-year-old agreeing to personal terms and the club poised to activate his £62.5 million release clause.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development, stating, “The Brazilian has accepted the project as agreement on personal terms is now being finalised, almost done. Final details to sort between all parties involved… and then, here we go.”
Cunha is expected to become the first signing under manager Ruben Amorim, who is undertaking a significant squad overhaul following a challenging season that sees United currently 16th in the Premier League.
To finance the deal, United are considering player sales, with Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa, among those potentially departing.
Cunha has been a standout performer for Wolves, scoring 15 league goals this season and ranking among the Premier League’s top players for shots per 90 minutes, shot-creating actions, and successful take-ons.
The transfer is anticipated to be finalized before the summer window opens in June, marking a significant step in United’s efforts to revitalize their squad.
