Liverpool FC have confirmed the signing of Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United on a long-term contract.
The 25-year-old forward finalized the deal on transfer deadline day after completing his medical at the AXA Training Centre. He will wear the iconic No.9 shirt for the reigning Premier League champions.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after putting pen to paper, Isak expressed his delight:
“I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here, but I’m super-happy to be part of this team, this club, and everything it stands for. I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates, the fans, and getting back on the pitch. I want to win everything.”
Isak arrives at Anfield after an impressive spell at Newcastle United, where he scored 62 goals in 109 appearances since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022. He netted 54 goals in 86 Premier League games for the Magpies, including 23 last season, finishing second only to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race.
Now teammates with Salah, the Sweden international is determined to continue his scoring form and contribute to Liverpool’s pursuit of silverware.
A product of AIK in Sweden, Isak previously played for Borussia Dortmund, Willem II, and Real Sociedad, where he won the Copa del Rey in 2020. On the international stage, he has represented Sweden 52 times, scoring 16 goals.
