Khaby Lame, the internationally renowned TikTok sensation known for his humorous and wordless reaction videos, was recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying his visa. The incident occurred at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport on June 6.

Lame had legally entered the United States on April 30, 2025, but remained beyond the authorized period of stay. ICE officials intervened when the social media star attempted to travel out of the country, citing a technical violation of his visa terms.

Early media reports incorrectly suggested that Lame had been arrested as an undocumented immigrant. However, ICE later clarified that Lame was not arrested but was instead granted voluntary departure—a legal option that allows individuals to leave the country without facing formal deportation proceedings.

Following the resolution of his immigration status, Lame has since departed the United States.

Lame, who has amassed over 160 million followers on TikTok and is widely recognized for his satirical takes on overly complicated life hacks, has not yet commented publicly on the situation. His management team has also remained silent regarding future travel or legal plans for re-entry into the U.S.

The incident highlights the strict enforcement of visa regulations, even for high-profile international figures, and serves as a reminder of the importance of compliance with immigration policies while traveling.
