In a surprising development, Kepa Arrizabalaga is on the verge of joining Arsenal from Chelsea, with the Gunners preparing to activate his £5 million release clause. The deal is expected to be finalized soon, pending official confirmation.

Fabrizio Romano has reported the agreement is in place, with the familiar “Here we go” imminent. According to The Athletic, Kepa is set to join Arsenal as a backup to David Raya, who recently completed a permanent move to the club.

Kepa’s departure marks the end of a turbulent stint at Stamford Bridge, where he joined for a record fee in 2018 but struggled to live up to expectations. After a loan spell at Real Madrid last season, the Spanish goalkeeper is now set for a fresh start in North London.

Arsenal view the 29-year-old as an experienced deputy who can provide depth and competition in goal as they prepare for a demanding 2025–26 campaign across multiple competitions.
