Rapper Kanye West has publicly voiced his support for fellow artist Tory Lanez by sharing an online petition calling on California Governor Gavin Newsom to issue a pardon. The petition, launched on Change.org by Lanez’s legal team, claims that Lanez’s conviction was marred by prosecutorial misconduct and lack of sufficient evidence.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. His legal team has continued to push for his release, maintaining his innocence and arguing that the trial was unfair.
West shared the petition link on social media, encouraging his followers and the general public to sign it. The petition has since gained significant traction, amassing over 143,000 signatures.
