Tanzanian music heavyweight Diamond Platnumz has announced that he is set to collaborate with legendary Ugandan artist Jose Chameleone, marking what could be one of East Africa’s biggest musical partnerships in recent years.
Speaking in a cofee Marathon Concert, Diamond expressed his long-standing desire to work with Chameleone, whose influence in the African music scene spans decades. The WCB Wasafi frontman acknowledged that an earlier opportunity to collaborate had fallen through due to Chameleone’s health issues, but he is now determined to bring the project to life.
“This year, I want to make sure I do a song with Jose Chameleone,” Diamond said. “The last time I wanted to collaborate with him, he was unwell—but I thank God he’s back on his feet now.”
Diamond Platnumz, known for hits like Komasava, Holiday, Nitafanyaje, Kuna, Moyo Jeje, Waah, and Yatapita, has consistently shown admiration for East African musical legends, and his respect for Chameleone is no exception. The Ugandan star, best known for classics such as Valu Valu, Jamila, and Badilisha, is celebrated not only for his unique sound but also for his role in shaping modern East African music.
Fans across the region are already buzzing with excitement over the possibility of a track that unites the two musical powerhouses. The collaboration, once released, is expected to be a cultural milestone—blending Diamond’s Bongo Flava style with Chameleone’s Afro-fusion and reggae influences.
While no specific release date has been confirmed, both camps have hinted at ongoing discussions and a shared commitment to making the collaboration happen in 2025. As anticipation builds, the music community is watching closely, hopeful that the long-awaited dream team-up will finally materialize.
