Iconic Hindi film star Dharmendra has died at the age of 89 in Mumbai, sources told The Hindu on Monday, November 24, 2025.

The actor, celebrated for his decades-long contribution to Indian cinema, had recently undergone multiple hospital visits at Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai. Although he was discharged and continued treatment at home, his health reportedly declined in the days leading up to his passing.

With a career spanning over six decades, Dharmendra became one of Bollywood’s most enduring and beloved figures. He delivered unforgettable performances in classics such as “Seeta Aur Geeta,” “Phool Aur Patthar,” “Sholay,” “Yaadon Ki Baaraat,” “Raja Jani,” “Aaye Din Bahar Ke,” and “Dharam Veer.” His versatility ranging from action and romance to comedy cemented his status as a cultural icon.

Dharmendra made a notable recent appearance in Karan Johar’s 2023 film “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” reminding audiences of his timeless charm and talent.
