American singer Chris Brown has been released on bail after a judge at Southwark Crown Court granted his request on Wednesday, despite his absence from the hearing.
The 36-year-old musician was previously remanded in custody following an initial appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court last Friday. He now faces a charge of grievous bodily harm in connection with an alleged assault at the London nightclub Tape in 2023.
Judge Tony Baumgartner approved Brown’s bail with strict conditions, including a £5 million security fee. The singer is permitted to continue his international tour, which includes upcoming performances in the UK throughout June and July. However, his bail conditions state that he may not use his passport for any purpose outside of these tour commitments.
Brown must also provide a fixed address where he will reside and is banned from visiting Tape nightclub, contacting the alleged victim, or applying for any new international travel documents.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 20 June at Southwark Crown Court.
