Ugandan music legend Bebe Cool is currently in Tanzania to promote his powerful new album Break The Chains. As part of his East African tour, the artist is engaging media and fans to push the message behind the project, recognizing Tanzania’s strong influence in shaping regional music.
In an interview, Bebe Cool praised Diamond Platnumz as a highly influential artist whose impact has elevated East African music to the global stage. He acknowledged that despite national borders, Diamond’s success is something to respect and learn from.
Explaining his choice to promote the album in Tanzania, Bebe Cool stated:
“Tanzania is currently the center of East African music. Its influence goes far beyond this region.”
He also addressed the ongoing challenges in East Africa’s music scene, pointing to the lack of unity among East African artists. According to Bebe Cool, there is still too much unnecessary competition rather than collaboration.
Commenting on Eddy Kenzo’s recent frustration about Ugandan artists being paid less than Diamond, Bebe Cool offered a bold perspective. He said that:
“Ugandan artists have chosen to remain small — there’s a mindset issue. Unlike in Tanzania, artists here have not committed to growing into global stars.”
He pointed to Diamond’s recent tours in the UK and the United States as an example of the kind of ambition and planning needed to elevate one’s brand beyond borders.
Through Break The Chains, Bebe Cool not only seeks to elevate his artistry but also aims to inspire greater unity, ambition, and professionalism within the East African music industry.
