FC Barcelona have officially clinched their 28th La Liga title, securing the 2024–25 championship with a 2–0 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby. This triumph marks their first league title under manager Hansi Flick, who took over in May 2024.

The decisive win at RCDE Stadium featured a spectacular long-range goal from 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, followed by a stoppage-time strike from Fermín López. Espanyol’s Leandro Cabrera was sent off in the 79th minute, reducing the hosts to ten men.

Barcelona’s victory places them seven points ahead of Real Madrid with only two matches remaining, rendering it mathematically impossible for their rivals to overtake them. This league title completes a domestic treble for the club, having already secured the Supercopa de España and the Copa del Rey earlier in the season.

Under Flick’s leadership, Barcelona have demonstrated remarkable consistency, including an unbeaten streak of over 30 matches. The team also reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, narrowly losing to Inter Milan.

This latest La Liga title further cements Barcelona’s status as one of Spain’s most successful football clubs, trailing only Real Madrid, who hold 36 league titles.
